Core Group

The Core Group consists of volunteers who work behind the scenes to keep the CSA running smoothly and run the pickup site for the designated hours and weeks of share deliveries. A core group is formed each year at the close of a season. Members who are interested in contributing additional time, energy, and talent to the core group should contact the current core group at CobbleHillCSAnews@gmail.com. There is no compensation for the time spent, however when possible, core members do not have to fulfill the work shift requirement.

As of 2020, the Core Group has become just a handful of folks who stepped up to keep the CSA open who share the responsibilities of general coordination, website administration, marketing, work shift coordinating and unloading. Please consider joining our group for the next season!

In years past the core group has included:

The “Behind the Scenes Team”
Rolls overlap and at times one person can take on more than one of these rolls.

General Coordinator: The general coordinator oversees the other Core Group volunteers and troubleshoots when necessary.

Treasurer: The treasurer is the primary liaison between our farmers and members of the Cobble Hill CSA. He/she processes annual payments, creates a database of members, and remits payments to our farmers along with tallies of subscribing members.

Website Administrator: The website administrator maintains the CSA’s website, cobblehillcsa.org. He/she also responds to email inquiries from members.

Marketing Coordinator: The marketing coordinator is the primary liaison between members of the Cobble Hill CSA and the Core Group. He/she is responsible for spreading the word about the CSA in our neighborhood, processing annual registrations, and soliciting feedback from current members.

Newsletter Editor: The newsletter editor writes and distributes the CSA’s bi-weekly electronic newsletter. The newsletter includes news from our farmers and the CSA, recipes, and other items of community interest. The newsletter editor is also responsible for emailing members information about each week’s share prior to the Tuesday distribution.

The “Site Distribution Team”

Site Coordinators (4): The site coordinators direct the weekly distribution of produce on Tuesday evenings. They oversee members completing their work shifts and ensure that the distribution area at Christ Church is tidied at the end of the evening. Each site coordinator will be responsible for CSA share pickups for (7) Tuesdays over the course of the season, from 4:00-8:00PM. (Since 2020, we have revised our distribution model and no longer use site coordinators)

Afternoon Coordinator: The afternoon coordinator opens the church at 4pm each week and readies the site for member pickup.   They greet the volunteers working the opening shift and answer questions and help set up their workspace.

Unloader: The unloader arrives at the distribution site every Tuesday morning to help the farmers unload the weekly produce shares and set up for the evening distribution.

Member’s Work-shift  Coordinator: Assists members in registering for their mandatory work shifts and follow through with reminders. He/she works closely with the Site Coordinator to ensures that the CSA has enough people present each Tuesday to ensure members can collect their shares and we manage our use of facilities at Christ Church.
